This week’s task it to put a client’s home page into Simplified Chinese.
The translation will be arriving as a Word document. I’ve already downloaded the Simplified Chinese language pack for Office XP. I’ll post up the link when it’s done so you can see the results!

Scenario:
I’m a web designer. And guess what? I design websites. So how many emails do you think I get with “Re: Website” in the subject line? Well, it’s at least half of all the legitimate emails that come into my inbox.
How many hours do I spend searching through emails for a particular email that I remember receiving a few weeks back. The one where the client agreed the quote or the one that had a picture for the home page?
The campaign:
Let’s all try to be just a bit more informative with the subject lines. eg. “Re: website - new pic for home page” or “Re: website - quote agreement“.
I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. We could save valuable hours if we could just type a few extra characters.
How about this? I found something called eBay To Go. You simply add a piece of code to your own website or blog, and hey presto, it displays the eBay To Go widget…. hopefully to drive more sales leads! Got a favourite seller? … do you want to pop one of these on your website to drive sales …. ask me how!
Today saw the launch of the www.susiebrown.co.uk website designed by Gel Creative.
Susie Brown specialises in photographing and reporting on annual events in and around Britain ~ from ancient customs such as The Dunmow Flitch Trials dating back to the 1100’s right up to the annual bog snorkelling contest held for the last 20 years in a small Welsh village. Events don’t have to be hundreds of years old and steeped in history to capture people’s imagination.
Susie has also travelled the world photographing people going about their daily lives in places as far reaching as India and Africa. She also has an extensive portfolio of wildlife captured on camera.
Last month saw the launch of the Be Charmed Jewellery online webshop. This site specialises in silver charm bead jewellery and rings which fit Pandora bracelets.
Gel Creative were pleased to have been invited to design the ecommerce store which takes Paypal and Google Checkout payments. The owners are able to update their shop with new stock, amend existing stock levels and follow through with invoice and packing slip printouts to enable the smooth running of their online business.
